Kdenlive is one of the better free and open source video editors for Linux that comes with more features than most basic video creators will ever need. They just released their latest version 24.05.1 a few weeks ago.

Here are the official steps for getting the latest version on Mint/Ubuntu/Debian via PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kdenlive/kdenlive-stable
sudo apt update
sudo apt install kdenlive
